Simon John Beckingham, born in Brockworth, Gloucestershire, England, is an actor. He voices the weasel Buck in Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and reprises his role as a cameo in Ice Age: Continental Drift.
Born to Gillian Rosemary (née Smith) and John Henry Beckingham, a former civil servant and jazz musician and keyboard salesman respectively, Simon Pegg took the name Pegg after his mother, having divorced Simon's father when Pegg was seven years old, remarried. Pegg attended a number of schools, including Castle Hill Primary School, Brockworth Comprehensive Secondary School, The King's School in Gloucester, and finally went on to study English literature and theatre at Stratford-upon-Avon College. Pegg also studied drama at the University of Bristol, writing his undergraduate thesis on "A Marxist overview of popular 1970s cinema and hegemonic discourses". While in Bristol, Pegg made an appearance in a Drama Society production of Howard Barker's Victory along with Sarah Kane and David Greig.
