Wow... I start this wiki and leave for long while after making a few articles, i come back, and it flourishes! Congrats Karlamon on Admin rights (sorry I never got you those, but hey, who really cares? you have them now!) , So well he's all uin charge now and - man this is a god awful speech. New Featured Article

Alright, Ice Age 3 has been thier for a while, and i personally think it should be changed more often. So i was thinking a bit of a vote off right here could help decide a new one. I'll put my choice down, and then i think that Karlamon should put one down, and then one other person too (a total of three choices), and then people can vote on it.

Locations

I've made a locations template, the template is meant to be added in every location of the Ice Age films. My computer's DVD reader is failing and I can't see movies at all here, so I ask every contributor here to add images and create missing articles as well, i used the most basic names for the locations, it's not hard to know which place is which if you're a fan of the series. You can add the template to articles by adding "<br> {{locations}}" at the end of the article, thanks! --SNA 03:57, November 10, 2009 (UTC)

Spelling and Names

I've been checking the spelling on some words on the articles and have corrected them, but I need to make clear this:

• The correct form of sabre is saber.
• Opossum and possum are different animals, the ones we talk about in the Ice Age movies is the first one, opossum.

Unused Files/Deleted scenes

We have a whole bunch of Unused Files an we need to delete the ones that are not going to be used. Also, I believe that Deleted Material for the films should be on separate pages.--Karlamon9 21:58, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

Megalonyx

67.80.21.55 has changed all the sloth characters species to Megalonyxes, another sloth species. Should we keep it as that or change it back to ground sloth?--Karlamon9 05:07, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

I can't remember where, but I read Sid's species was Megatherium, truth is Sid's sloth species is fictional, a mixture of ground sloth and modern day tree sloth according to the article's Trivia. There are many more inaccuracies in the film series when it comes to species as some are shown living together with others that lived in other habitats and different eras. I suggest keeping it simple for readers as "sloth" or "ground sloth". --SNA 19:33, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

Wiki overhaul

Our wiki has been in need for an overhaul in its look since the launch of the new look, and its starting to look dated compared to other wikis on Wikia.

Firstly, what we need is a new theme with a background. Lady Blue has tried to make a new theme but the colors are purplish and it doesn't seem to fit in with the blue ice theme. The background is way too small and the link text is difficult to read so I have temporary reverted the theme for now. To resolve this, I have posted a request on Logo Creation Wiki and hope to have a response soon.

Secondly, our main page looks dated and probably in need of a better looking one. I spent a week or two building that page and don't have the knowledge to code it to make it look better. Another feature we could have is a Main Page slider about each Ice Age movie as explained on this blog.

Since the launch of the new look, Wikia has made a few features optional such as Related Pages, Category Thumbnails and image attribution. I have already disabled the image attribution because its very unnecessary for an encyclopedic wiki. The other two features still remain but they can be removed. I have created a few polls about removing these features.

As for the word mark, its the feature I dislike most about the new skin. I spent hours creating the Monaco logo only to be forced to replace it with a much lower quality word mark. There is a poll below if you want to show your opinion.

These are just some of my suggestions about improving the wiki. Feel free to vote on the polls and add your suggestions and hopefully we will have Ice Age Wiki looking more modern.--Karlamon (Talk • Contributions) 02:44, January 16, 2011 (UTC)

I have a few questions:

1. What is the Category Thumbnails?
2. Related Pages feature
3. What does image attribution mean and how can you disable it?

And I also see a few problems with your suggestions:

1. By slider, if you mean a slideshow, then you can only have images in them (.jpg; .png; .gif, etc.) not .html files. .html files can't go in slideshows as they are meant for image files only.

Also, the skin I made only looks purple because you have your resoultion of your computer's monitor set to something like 75 or 80% it shows up like an icy blue if you set it to 94-100%, no less than that or it will look purple.

Since I'm the one that knows HTML, basic and some advanced like CSS Style Sheets and codes for usernames to show up a certain by usergroup, I guess I'm going to have to be the one to edit the skin? The HTML on the mainpage is childs play for me, but something like this:

1. Related pages are shown in either text or images at the bottom of an article.
2. Category thumbnails are those images/text that are shown at the top of a category.
3. Image attribution is text on a linked image that shows the user who uploaded it. I removed it by adding this code to MediaWiki:Wikia.css.

From our discussion on messenger about your theme, it is strange how you see your theme as icy blue but I see it as purplish (it might be your old monitor). Don't know how other users see it though.

A slider is a slideshow and they require files uploaded on the wiki. Unfortunately, the ones you uploaded for the slider aren't very good in quality. I have uploaded my own images and made my own slider here if you want to take a look.--Karlamon (Talk • Contributions) 00:14, January 17, 2011 (UTC)

Strange, the seemed good in quality to me. Not sure why the colors are purple to you, blue to me. Different resolutions for the monitors probably.

The Avatar (The Last Airbender) Wiki main page looks great and it's good what you have done so far. However, I'd like to suggest a few things that could be made better.

1. I think we have a bit too many characters in the character portal skin. We should probably just stick with the characters who have appeared in more than one movie rather than add those who have only been in one (eg. Buck). The cast should be placed in order of appearance (Scrat, Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Crash and Eddie, Peaches).
2. Would it be possible to have the films and shorts in the same "movie and short" (as it already is) but have it separated into "Movies" and "Shorts" subheadings? Also, that portal should replace the current contents template.
3. Important links should be placed at the bottom of the main page.
4. The main page still has a mix of old and new templates, but I'm sure we can get this sorted eventually.--Karlamon (Talk • Contributions) 09:57, January 31, 2011 (UTC)
